Eleanor Ellis Public Library, along with sponsorship from the Phelps Women’s Club, will once again host our annual Creative Writing Contest, with a submission deadline of March 3, 2023. This contest is open to kids and adults who reside in Phelps and Northland Pines School District.

Be Creative!!! Only original materials may be entered. Writers can submit their work by mail, drop off at the library or email to director@phelps.wislib.org. With your entry, please include your name, age, address and phone number.

Contest Divisions are:

Lower Elementary (Grades K-2) up to 300 words. Picture stories are also allowed for Kindergarten. First PlaceĀ winner will receive the Crayola Pip Squeak Art Kit. Second Place winner will receive the Tiger Tribe How to Draw Set and Third Place winner will receive a 10″ LCD Doodle Board Drawing Tablet.

Upper Elementary (Grades 3-5) – up to 500 words. First Place winner will receive the Crayola Silly Scents Color Kit. Second Place winner will receive a 54 project Origami Project Kit and Third Place winner will receive a 10″ LCD Doodle Board Drawing Tablet.

Middle School (Grades 6-8) – up to 750 words. First Place winner will receive the Prina 76 pc Drawing/Sketching Kit. Second Place winner will receive 6pc 3D Wooden Insect Puzzle and the Fearless Coloring Book for Teens and Tweens with Crayola Twistable Colored Pencils, Third Place winner will receive a Faber/Castell Drawing/Sketching Kit.

High School (Grades 9-12) – up to 1,000 words. First Place winner will receive a 129 pc Deluxe Wooden Art Kit. Second Place winner will receive a Darnassus Art Set and Third Place winner will receive the Heshengping Sketch and Drawing Art 50pc Pencil Kit and Fearless Coloring Book for Teens.

Adult Contest (ages 18 and up) – 100 Words for $100. Submissions should be no more than 100 words and no less than 95 words. We will choose one winner, who will receive $100 cash prize.
