The Eleanor Ellis Public Library is pleased to announce the availability of five new free online resources for library card holders. Transparent Language Online for Libraries, a complete language-learning system with courses and lessons designed to build listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills; “creativebug,” the number one inspirational resource for DIY, crafters, and makers with thousands of award-winning art and craft video classes; Kanopy, a video streaming service; The New York Times; and New York Times Cooking.
Transparent Language Online allows learners to explore a new language in the comfort of their own home, at the library, or on-the-go. Through a link on the library’s website, library card holders will have unlimited access to more than 110 languages, including English for speakers of over 30 languages. Transparent Language Online for Libraries is packed with pronunciation practice, speech analysis, grammar, writing activities, and vocabulary-building activities. This extensive language-learning program works on virtually any computer or mobile device through a web browser or mobile app.
Creativebug gives library card holders unlimited access to thousands of fine art and hand-crafting lessons. Library patrons can find endless creative inspiration with new classes released every day; download hundreds of patterns, templates and recipes; share comments and upload project images to the galleries; and join thousands of fellow makers on a creative journey. All ages and skill levels will love this resource.
Kanopy is one of the best video streaming services for quality, thoughtful entertainment. With an extensive and diverse collection of over 30,000 narrative and documentary films, as well as TV series and kids content, the library is pleased to bring this streaming service to the community.
Library card holders now also have access to The New York Times online. Whether managing finances, tackling tough parenting problems, or simply looking to make sense of this moment, patrons can rely on The New York Times original, quality journalism to lead the way. It’s an essential source for fearless reporting, varied perspectives, and practical advice on nearly every topic — from the vital issues shaping our world to the simple pleasures that make everyday life better. Library card holders also have access to New York Times Cooking, an inspiring cooking guide, innovative and interactive kitchen tool, and diverse recipe collection that helps home cooks of every level discover, save and organize the world’s best recipes, while also helping them become better, more competent cooks.
