Charming small-town library in Phelps, WI is hiring!

  • a background in technology

  • a passion for literacy

  • excellent organizational skills & fiscal management knowledge

  • Previous Library experience is necessary

Candidates must have at least 54 college credits to obtain initial certification and be willing to work toward Director, Grade 3 Certification as required through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction….30 – 34 hrs/week with benefits.

The Library: 

We have so much happening at Eleanor Ellis PL. We have all the current materials and various genres for all ages, as well as the classic literature, bios and a dedicated Wisconsin/Upper Michigan collection. We offer a large and updated collection of movies and TV series on DVD, which are not only often requested as interlibrary loan material, but are widely used by our local patrons as well as our many seasonal visitors. Our library has started a Library of Things, where we offer items such as Internet hot spots, tablets, portable DVD players, and so much more. We have a coffee, tea and snack bar. There is an ongoing Free or For Donation area in our entry hall as well as a FREE Puzzle and Magazine Exchange. Our library has 24/7 Wifi available, with patron computers ready during business hours. We also have a secure, outdoor locker system for after hours materials pickup. Our programming reaches all ages, including our adult book club, writer’s group, Winter Program Series and other special programming. Children’s outreach includes our annual Summer Reading Program, Family Summer Programming Series, Year around Story Hour, collaboration with our local school on various projects, Annual Creative Writing Contest, which reaches out to our local school and other area schools and more. We participate in community activities and events year around including; Maple Syrup Fest, Scarecrow Fest, Picnic in the Park, 4th of July Parade, the annual Spelling Bee, to name a few.

Welcome to Town of Phelps

Vilas County, WI

Town of Phelps is located in famous Vilas County 15 miles northeast of Eagle River, Wisconsin.

The area of Phelps Township is slightly larger than that of Milwaukee, and smaller than Chicago, 92.4 square miles with a diverse population of 1203. Nearly 75% of the land in Phelps Township is Nicolet National Forest lands. These 37,716 acres translate to 30 acres for each man, woman and child in Phelps.

We invite you to share these beautiful wooded lands and lakes. The headwaters of the mighty Wisconsin River as well as the Deerskin River start right here in Phelps.
