The story of Violeta; from birth through a long, challenging, and eventful life.
Violeta, a woman seeking happiness on her own terms, while pressed by societal expectations, chooses to indulge in passion and desire, thereby distancing herself from those conditions. Her story takes place in turbulent times in South America, which only strengthens her resolve to become independent.
I believe most readers tend to choose authors of their own gender, if for no other reason than like-minded thinking and experiences. However, from this reader’s point of view, Isabel Allende is in the top echelon of all authors, male and female. A good book is a good book, regardless of who write it.
I very much enjoy and endorse this woman’s work.
